[Review] The Ghost - Arnold Bennett

2 comments :
Title of Book : The Ghost
Author : Arnold Bennett
Publisher : Nonsuch Publishing

First published in 1907, The Ghost was the first of many "fantasias on modern times" written by Arnold Bennett. These illustrated his ability to produce not only realistic novels, perfected in his portrayals of provincial English life set in the Staffordshire scenery of his childhood, but also more sensational stories, written after his move to London where he developed a far more cosmopolitan interest. A supernatural story, The Ghost tells the tale of a beautiful opera star, Rosetta Rosa, whose beauty seems to cast a spell upon all those who meet her. When Carl Foster, a young doctor, sees Rosa at a London opera, and is instantly captivated, he soon finds himself plagued by mysterious happenings, and begins to see a malignant, spectral figure everywhere he turns. When another man enraptured by Rosa mysteriously dies, Carl begins to wonder whether loving her could bring with it a deadly curse. Moving between London and Paris, this fast-paced story draws the reader into a ghostly world of twists, turns, drama, and suspense.

I'm currently reading The Vow by Jessica Martinez on pulseit.com and I Am Pusheen The Cat by Claire Belton. I'm not sure if I could continue reading The Vow because my internet connection is pathetic. As for the Pusheen book, I don't know if I could ever stop reading this book because this book is super cute and funny. I've read it three times already. yes. three.

One school. Twenty voices.
Endless possibilities.
There's the girl who is in love with Holden Caulfield. The boy who wants to be strong who falls for the girl who's convinced she needs to be weak. The girl who writes love songs for a girl she can't have. The two boys teetering on the brink of their first anniversary. And everyone in between.
As he did in the highly acclaimed Boy Meets Boy, David Levithan gives us a world of unforgettable voices that readers will want to visit again and again. It's the realm of possibility open to us all - where love, joy, and the stories we tell will linger.

Title of Book : 4 to 16 Characters
Author : Kelly Hourihan
Publisher : Press Kit
Published date : 7 November 2013

Fifteen-year-old Jane Shilling’s best friends don’t know her real name. In fact, they don’t know anything about her at all. Jane’s life has collapsed in the last few years; following the death of her mother, her father turned to drinking, and Jane is reeling from the double blow. To escape, Jane devises a number of online personas, each with a distinct personality, life history, and set of friends. But things become trickier when she finds herself drawing close to some of her online friends, and winds up struggling with the question of how to maintain a real friendship while masquerading as a fake person. With the help of Gary, a socially awkward classmate and competitive Skeeball player who is Jane’s only offline friend, and Nora, her therapist, Jane begins to sift through her issues. The only catch is that that involves taking a long, hard look at what her life’s like when the computer is shut off, and that’s a reality she’s been fighting for years.

Title of Book : Boy Meets Boy
Author : David Levithan
Publisher : Harper Collins UK

This is the story of Paul, a sophomore at a high school like no other: The cheerleaders ride Harleys, the homecoming queen used to be a guy named Daryl (she now prefers Infinite Darlene and is also the star quarterback), and the gay-straight alliance was formed to help the straight kids learn how to dance.
When Paul meets Noah, he thinks he’s found the one his heart is made for. Until he blows it. The school bookie says the odds are 12-to-1 against him getting Noah back, but Paul’s not giving up without playing his love really loud. His best friend Joni might be drifting away, his other best friend Tony might be dealing with ultra-religious parents, and his ex-boyfriend Kyle might not be going away anytime soon, but sometimes everything needs to fall apart before it can really fit together right.
This is a happy-meaningful romantic comedy about finding love, losing love, and doing what it takes to get love back in a crazy-wonderful world.

Off for a Week!

No comments :
Hey! I have a quick announcement for you today. I'm not gonna be posting any reviews or memes for a week because I will be on a trip. I was going to scheduled a few posts but I was so busy with preparing for the trip and classes and homeworks. So, the plan fails (T.T). Anyway, I've already prepared a review post. I hope I'll get time to post it when I'm on the trip.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Infamous brings Lauren Conrad’s juicy, gossipy Fame Game series to a stunning conclusion.
As the star of MTV series The Hills, Lauren Conrad understands Hollywood life. She uses insider knowledge to tell the story of Madison Parker, Kate Hayes, and Carmen Curtis, stars of The Fame Game, the reality TV show that follows the girls as they try to become famous in L.A.
Kate and Carmen are about to become big stars, but they’re going to have to survive some backstage drama first. Madison is learning hard lessons about fame as she deals with backstabbing “friends” and family, out-of-control paparazzi, and a scandal reported in every tabloid.

September Wrap-Up 2013

Bye September, welcome October! This September I haven't got much into reading. The new semester started and I got homeworks which required reading papers. So, yes, I read papers more than fiction books. Anyway, I joined Fall into Reading read-a-thon last month. My very first read-a-thon. Even though I didn't complete all of my goals, I enjoyed it. Really hope I could participate in another read-a-thon. soon.
