October Wrap-Up & Favorites
Source: personal collection

Hello fellow readers! I'm still trying to catch up on my wrap-up and favorites. Almost there! Anyway, I didn't read any horror themed books but I did watch a horror show and what a show! I highly recommend it. Before I talk about the show, here's the list of books I read in October.

Books read in October

Every Breath Every Breath - Nicholas Sparks (★★★)
If you know me or follow my Goodreads or this blog, you'll know that I'm a fan of Sparks's books. Despite what people say about his writings, his books will always be my comfort read. It's been a while since I read his book and that's why I picked this one up. However, of all of his books I read, unfortunately Every Breath is not my favorite. I've written a full review of this book explaining why which you can read on this blog. In short, If you're new to his works I'd rather you to read his other books.
To All The Boys I've Loved Before To All the Boys I've Loved Before - Jenny Han (★★★)
This book is the first book in the To All the Boys I've Loved Before. When they first published it, it wasn't intended to be a series. But the story kind of ends in a cliffhanger and I guess people want more. It's a young adult contemporary romance story so it's cute and fun. It's definitely the kind of book you want to read if you're looking for some light and heartwarming read. This book already has a film adaptation on Netflix if you want to check it out.

October Favorites

TV shows

Midnight Mass

Midnight Mass is a mini series by Mike Flanagan. It's available to stream on Netflix. I don't want to spoil too much and trust me it's better if you start the show without knowing much about it. It's a horror show about an isolated island with close-knit community. One day, a charismatic priest came to the island and strange things start to happen on the island. I thought the show would be a horror series about a cult and boy was I wrong. This show is so much more. I highly recommend it.

Movies

Bad Times at the El Royale

When I first saw the trailer of this film, I was intrigued. Moreover, I haven't watched Chris Hemsworth in other films other than Thor so this is my chance to see him as another character. It's quite brutal and actually reminds me of Pulp Fiction but in a good way. It's bizarre and layered which is why I like this film. If you enjoy films like Pulp Fiction, then you might enjoy this film as well.

There you have it. For October, I'm doing it fast and straight to the point. Besides, the whole horror themed month is so not me anyway. Did you have a good October? Did you savor the spooky season and read or watch horror contents? Personally, I don't like watching horror films because I get scared easily. However, if you're like me, I recommend Midnight Mass to watch. Also, if you have any recommendation on books or films similar to Midnight Mass, feel free to share it on the comment because truthfully I need it to fill the void that the show left. Have a nice and cozy November!
