Award-winning author and powerhouse talent Roxane Gay burst onto the scene with An Untamed State and the New York Times bestselling essay collection Bad Feminist (Harper Perennial). Gay returns with Difficult Women, a collection of stories of rare force and beauty, of hardscrabble lives, passionate loves, and quirky and vexed human connection.
The women in these stories live lives of privilege and of poverty, are in marriages both loving and haunted by past crimes or emotional blackmail. A pair of sisters, grown now, have been inseparable ever since they were abducted together as children, and must negotiate the elder sister's marriage. A woman married to a twin pretends not to realize when her husband and his brother impersonate each other. A stripper putting herself through college fends off the advances of an overzealous customer. A black engineer moves to Upper Michigan for a job and faces the malign curiosity of her colleagues and the difficulty of leaving her past behind. From a girls’ fight club to a wealthy subdivision in Florida where neighbors conform, compete, and spy on each other, Gay delivers a wry, beautiful, haunting vision of modern America reminiscent of Merritt Tierce, Jamie Quatro, and Miranda July.

[Review] Hulk: Planet Hulk - Greg Pak

This is it, Planet Hulk. It was incredible (get it?). I didn’t expect it to be an epic adventure story, but it is. It collects The Incredible Hulk issues #92-105. It started with Hulk arrived in a strange planet called Sakaar. The planet (or the empire that’s on the planet) is led by an oppressive king called the Red King. Hulk was captured and enslaved to be a gladiator. He tried to fight the guardians. Apparently, while passing the portal that brought him to the planet, he’s somehow weakening.  In his weakened state, he’s forced to participate in a gladiatorial contest along with several other slaves. They grew close and were bonded as the Warbound. They then decided to take down the Red King together and rebelled against his oppressive government.

2016 in Review

Hello fellow readers! 2016 was quite a tough year. For some reason, people seem to hate 2016 and be glad that it's finally over. As for me, 2016 was a good year because I finally graduated and got my Master degree. Although reading-wise, 2016 was not as good as 2015. I didn't read as much as I did in 2015 and I mostly read comics/ graphic novels, which kind of shows that I did less reading in 2016. Well, if we want to talk about statistics, I think Goodreads has done a great job in that.

Wow, it’s the end of the year! Or rather, beginning of a new year considering the time I post this wrap-up. December was okay. Writing this wrap-up, I realized that I only read comics/ graphic novels in December. I’m currently reading Roxanne Gay’s Difficult Women though, and I enjoy it so far. So here are the books/comics I read in December.
